There won’t be a tent and there won’t be mosquitoes. But there will be s’mores, sleeping bags and some roughin’ it -- among the stars, not under them. The space station crew is planning a camp out.

Expedition 12 Commander Bill McArthur and Expedition 13 Flight Engineer Jeff Williams will pack their sleeping bags April 3 and spend the night in the closet-size Quest Airlock. The “camp out,” as the crew and Mission Control call the plan, will test procedures that could shorten preparation time on future spacewalks. Those saved minutes will help future crews as they continue building the space station.

Camping out the night before a spacewalk reduces the time the crew must breathe pure oxygen to avoid decompression sickness -- commonly called "the bends" -- from hours to minutes.

The plan calls for the crewmembers to shut themselves in the airlock and lower the air pressure to 10.2 pounds per square inch, or psi -- the station is kept at 14.7 psi, or near sea-level pressure -- and then camp out for the night.

Image to right: Expedition 12 Commander Bill McArthur works with spacesuits in the space station's Quest Airlock. Credit: NASA

The marshmallows won’t be toasty and the sleeping bags won’t be cushioned by a grassy meadow, but McArthur and Williams will be “outside” the station’s living quarters.

Spending the night at a lower air pressure helps flush nitrogen from the body faster, preventing decompression sickness. Astronauts aboard the shuttle perform a similar procedure, lowering the spacecraft’s air pressure a day or so before a spacewalk.

The station’s size -- about that of a three-bedroom home -- makes it difficult to lower the air pressure throughout the complex. However, the airlock is about the same size as the shuttle’s cabin, making it perfect for the camp out.

Well, maybe not perfect. The crew will have to rough it with a cold supper, cold s’mores and no bathroom for the night.

Of course, Mission Control will be keeping a close watch to make sure the dress rehearsal goes well. If the test is a success, the crew will use the new plan later this year.

... the site is being transferred to another server. I’d intended this to be seamless, but it looks like there’s a short gap – just how long, I now need to investigate. I would hope the site will be back up again tomorrow.

The plan has been:

1) Transfer the old site to the new server;

2) Replace the old site with the new site (which will happen a few days later).

Maybe you can let the folks know on the forum, so that no-one jumps to the wrong conclusion!

Best wishes to all, Bill "

It's gone, I'm still looking to see what happened to it. This does make the hoax angle look much more credible. They get found out, so they close shop. Although you would think if it were disinformation, that even after being found out they would keep it up anyway, to keep the doubt one way or the other going.

Students from across the world have enrolled at a new school for ghost hunters at Muncaster Castle.

People from as far afield as Australia, France, Spain and Ireland have been taking part in the course at Muncaster, which is reputedly one of Britain’s most haunted buildings.

Dr Jason Braithwaite, an independent research scientist from the Behavioural Brain Sciences Centre at Birmingham University has lead the course.

He has been researching the reasons why there are so many ghost sightings at Muncaster Castle for nearly fifteen years and remains sceptical that ghosts exist.

I've turned comments off for the blog. I think there were close to 50 junk comments today. The last 7 were in the span of one minute. All the real people are very welcome to use My UFO Forums to discuss virtually anything. I'll also build a contact form for the site too.

UPDATE:
I've turned them back on, with some changes. I hate to let them win. So we'll see how this works out.

Expedition 13 Commander Pavel Vinogradov and Flight Engineer Jeff Williams began their mission Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. EST. They launched aboard a Soyuz rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Joining them for several days before returning home with Expedition 12 is Brazil’s first astronaut Marcos Pontes.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- The Tourism Ministry is considering making the Bigfoot mystery in Johor an attraction to bring more tourists to the country.

Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said Thursday the ministry would look into how to package the attraction but would not make up stories for visitors.

Apart from claims by several Orang Asli that they had sighted Bigfoot, there has been no proof as to its existence in the jungles of Johor.

It was similar to the Loch Ness monster in Scotland, the minister told reporters after launching the Special Hotel Packages 2006 booklet on hotel packages in the country.

Pop star Robin shares house with a ghost

By Cameron Robertson

FORMER Bee Gee Robin Gibb is sharing his 12th century home with an unwelcome spooky guest.

The history fanatic claims to be living in his converted monastery home with a ghost who plays pranks on the singer and his family.

Robin, who sang lead vocals on Giving Up The Ghost on the band's 1987 album ESP, said: "It was a place where monks would be trained for their vocation.

"There's even a resident ghost, who mysteriously fills up the water in the old font in the chapel, which we converted into a dining room."

There is also the spooky sound of a clock being wound each night around midnight in the room where a clockmaker - who lived in the house in the 17th century - kept his gear.

Robin said: "We've done everything to try to find a scientific reason but there isn't one."

The house, called The Prebendal, in Thame Park, Oxfordshire, was built by the theologian Robert Grosseteste in 1241.

Elizabeth I stayed there, as did Henry VIII with his wife Anne Boleyn.

The ghost is believed to be that of John the gardener who tended the 20-acre estate 500 years ago.

Robin, 57, who also had a hit album called Spirits Having Flown with his brothers, said his love of the past began as a boy.

He said: "I love visiting old churches and reading about historical characters.

"I've always had at least one history book on the go, even on tours."

Two U.S. astronauts will travel aboard a Russian spacecraft as paying passengers for the first time when they take part in a mission which gets under way later today to swap the crew of the international space station.

The Houston Chronicle daily reported on Thursday that NASA will pay the Russians $43.8 million for the launch of astronaut Jeff Williams and the April 8 return to Earth of Bill McArthur aboard Soyuz capsules.

Legislation allowing the payments to Russia was passed by Congress and signed by President Bush last fall to ensure a constant U.S. presence aboard the station after the grounding of the shuttle fleet by the 2003 Columbia accident.

When Lisa Childress is the first to arrive at the offices of the Downtown Kingsport Association, she will call out, "Lucy, I'm here."

Lucy isn't the night watchman. Or the custodian.

Lucy is the Ghost of the Gem Theater.

Honest. The old movie theater at the corner of Shelby and Main, which now houses the DKA offices, has its own ghost and has had for years.

Long enough that the ghost has picked up a name, Lucy. Lisa isn't sure if she gave the ghost that name or if someone else did, but she says that's what they have called the ghost since Lisa has been at the DKA, which is six years.

A town in Argentina is said to be living in fear of the ghost of a woman who was ditched at the altar.

Children are refusing to go to school and street cleaners are refusing to work night shifts in Frontera because of the 'ghost'.

They say they are terrified after seeing the ghostly figure of a woman wearing a wedding dress, reports Las Ultimas Noticias.

The town priest has held a special mass to try to calm the angry spirit which locals claim to have seen walking all over town.

A police spokesperson said: "This is getting out of hand, the whole town is terrified, we've been getting phone calls all the time.

"They say it is a bride who was left in the altar and died of sadness and now wants to bring the same sadness to everyone she encounters."

This view shows a full-resolution portion of the first image of Mars taken by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera (HiRISE) on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The spacecraft, launched Aug. 12, 2005, began orbiting Mars on March 10, 2006. The image is of an area in Mars' mid-latitude southern highlands.

HiRISE took this first test image from orbit on March 24, 2006, from an altitude of 2,489 kilometers (1,547 miles), achieving a resolution of 2.49 meters (98 inches) per pixel, or picture element. The smallest objects of discernable shape are about three pixels across. An image acquired at this latitude during the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter's main science phase, beginning in fall 2006, would be taken from an altitude of about 280 kilometers (174 miles) and have a resolution of 28 centimeters (11 inches) per pixel.

This view covers an area about 4.5 by 2.1 kilometers (1.6 by 1.3 miles), a subset of the broader image. (go to image)

The quality of this test image is spectacular, with no hint to the eye of any smear or blurring. A high signal-to-noise ratio reveals fine details even in the shadows.

A girl who lives in a house in Panther Valley out in Warren County described to her grandmother what the ghost looked like.

The ghost is a nicely dressed man, and the granddaughter had seen him several times. The grandmother thought it was just a child's imagination, until she caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of her eye.

That's when she volunteered her home to be inspected by the New Jersey Ghost Hunters Society, a Parsippany-based group of 327 enthusiasts from around the state who bill themselves as New Jersey's largest paranormal investigating and training organization.

Lecture makes ghost stories real
Rob Rogers
Marin Independent Journal

Many people claim to have seen, heard or felt a ghost. But researcher Loyd Auerbach is probably one of a few living people to report being hit on by a dead woman.

Auerbach lectured on the haunting of the USS Hornet Sunday afternoon at Unity in Marin in Novato's Hamilton Square. The event was sponsored by the International Foundation for Survival Research, a San Rafael-based organization that supports research into life after death.

Auerbach says it's not at all surprising that a dead person might be a little flirtatious. After all, he says, ghosts are people, too.

"People who are dead behave the way they did when they were alive," Auerbach said. "They don't become evil, and they don't suddenly gain wisdom."

Dirt on SERPO

I've been contacted and informed of the latest twist in SERPO. Looks like there is a lot of reading to do on this again. The other day I was on the phone with someone that has heaps of info, on countless things. He had never heard of these project names, so that was a red flag to me. Below is one of the messages informing me of the new twist.

Hi,

You may want to spread the word so that no more innocent people will be taken in by this:

Seems that Project Serpo has been exposed as a hoax created by McLean VA attorney (with possible gov connections) in concert with the "Three Amigos" of abovetopsecret.com which also appears, based on the material collected, to be COINTELPRO. This one is really strange and a good example of what is being done to "take over the internet" in the guise of just a few "normal guys trying to make a buck."

Have a look:

Just goes to show how the net can be used for good or evil.

Feel free to repost any material from the above forums.

Laura Knight-Jadczyk

It was so draining being there, and sad. I'm not sure if I want to try again. If I do, I'll take higher pixel pictures. This was really just a test. It wasn't exactly like I knew what I was doing. I had to get some experience under my belt though. This time all I did was snap photos at 640x480. My camera will do better than that. So the next time I go ghost hunting, even without better equipment, I'll increase the resolution.

All those little kid graves made me feel really sad.

KOTA TINGGI: A recent close encounter with the Johor Bigfoot near Gunung Panti has turned a construction worker into a full-time Bigfoot hunter.

Kong Nam Choy, 38, who loves jungle trekking and lives alone in Kampung Lukut, found the first clear Bigfoot footprints on a tar road in Kampung Temening here in January.

He also led a team of local and foreign filming crews which found fresh Bigfoot footprints in the secondary forest near the same area on Feb 20.

The team succeeded in making the first plaster casts of the footprints of the Johor Bigfoot.

This is a picture I remember seeing last summer. When I saw it, it was in the form of a large photograph. The size of paper that comes out of a printer, you know the photo paper stuff. There was no background story for it, just the picture, and I haven't seen that one since. Although I did get a glimpse of the same image again on the discovery or history channel in November or December at the start of a program about real flying saucers. Again, still no story about it at all, just a flash. Now I've finally found it. That's the good news. Because it has been bothering me for a while now. I had been searching for it, like crazy.

Now for the bad news. I won't even tell you. Just look below.

State Tourism and Environment Committee chairman Freddie Long said it was therefore wrong to accuse the State Forestry Department of destroying purported Bigfoot footprints found in secondary forest at Kampung Temening in Kota Tinggi.

Russian ufologists have opened a school where they teach people what to do if they encounter a UFO and where to look for extraterrestrials.

The commotion over UFO sightings in Central Russia’s Togliatti began this summer when crop circles appeared in a field just outside the city. The enormous pictogram in the grass attracted dozens of journalists and hundreds of curious onlookers.

In response to the evident demand, local UFO researchers decided to establish a school where people would learn about the paranormal. Togliatti’s popularity with extraterrestrials makes it an ideal spot for such an institution, a local daily said Thursday.

New Straits Times is reporting that the recent Bigfoot footprints are being erased by the authorities.

That makes me wonder what's going on here. Perhaps they are trying to hide Bigfoot, or maybe they just don't want tourists.

Seems to me, that if you thought the evidence meant nothing, then you wouldn't go to the trouble to destroy it. Now isn't evidence normally destroyed when you are trying to cover something up?

Pegasus is away! At 9:03 a.m. EST, the Pegasus rocket carrying three ST5 micro-satellites dropped from its carrier jet.

All three of the ST5 satellites have deployed from the Pegasus rocket and are orbiting Earth. Next, each of the spacecraft will be checked to ensure it's functioning properly before beginning its mission evaluating the use of micro-satellite technology and examining the planet's inner magnetosphere.

NASA's Space Technology 5 (ST5) Project is building and testing three smaller satellites called micro-satellites. These micro-sats will test and validate new technologies for future science missions.

"Anybody can make biodiesel. It's easy, you can make it in your kitchen -- and it's BETTER than the petro-diesel fuel the big oil companies sell you. Your diesel motor will run better and last longer on your home-made fuel, and it's much cleaner -- better for the environment and better for health. If you make it from used cooking oil it's not only cheap but you'll be recycling a troublesome waste product. Best of all is the GREAT feeling of freedom, independence and empowerment it will give you."

As Found At Roswell Online

In early July 1947 an incident occurred in the desert just outside of Roswell, NM. Many people have heard of the Roswell UFO crash, but very few people know the details of the incident. The following account of the 1947 UFO incident was taken from public records, from information provided by the International UFO Museum and from the press release for UFO Encounter 1997.

On the evening of July 3, 1947 Dan Wilmot, a respected business owner, and his wife were sitting on their front porch when they saw a bright saucer shaped object with glowing lights moving across they sky at 400-500 miles per hour. Dan Wilmot estimated that the unidentified flying object was about 20-25 feet across. The flying object appeared from the Southeast and disappeared to the Northwest. Dan Wilmot reported his unusual sighting to the Roswell Daily Record.

I'm going to start digging up info on the history of the Roswell Incident. I mean really what kind of UFO blog and site based in Roswell, New Mexico, would this be without such info on it. What I find will fall under the Roswell UFO Incident category. So even as it falls off the front page, it's not going to be hard to find it.

From what I have read there were at least two crashes right around this time. The first one, which happened before Roswell, didn't make it to press at the time. If my memory is correct that one happened near The Plains of San Augustin, New Mexico.

Obviously very few still living people were there to witness it, plus it happened almost 60 years ago. That makes things harder. What can be done though, is to look at lots of material related to the events. You look at whatever you can find, piece it together in your mind. And then you can get a picture of what may have happened. Some pieces just won't fit while seemingly unrelated pieces will make sense together in the larger picture.

I think one of the most important things you can do when investigating this or anything really, is to focus your research on multiple sources. No one person or source will see every aspect, or remember it, or view it from the same perspective. People are usually biased one way or another. Some people will be extremists, either for or against something and no matter how much evidence you feed them, will sway them one way or the other.

I really don't think extremism is objective at all, yet it can still can contain valid information. So it can't be totally overlooked either. That's why I think it's important to gather you information from multiple sources, that are seeing the event from different perspectives. Because in the end, I'm seeking the bigger picture.

I was informed today, that many of the truck stops have started switching over to Bio Diesel. This is very recent, it wasn't long ago at all, that Willie Nelson's station in Waco, Texas was about the only place you could get it.

It sees you, and it never blinks.

The Helix nebula exhibits complex structure on the smallest visible scales. It is composed of gaseous shells and disks puffed out by a dying sun-like star.

In this new image from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, "cometary knots" show blue-green heads caused by excitation of their molecular material from shocks or ultraviolet radiation. The tails of the cometary knots appear redder due to being shielded from the central star's ultraviolet radiation and wind by the heads of the knots.

This image was captured by the telescope's infrared array camera. The false color composite depicts wavelengths of 3.6 microns (blue), 4.5 microns (green), and 8.0 microns (red). The color saturation has been increased to intensify hues.

Love Hewitt portrays a character based on real-life ghost-buster Mary Ann Winkowski in the movie.

"Apparently when this guy died, they went to clean out his house and he had a whole wall of nothing but her pictures on it."

Love Hewitt says, "I wasn't really scared by him, but I thought maybe he should be in another place. That way things would stop rattling in my kitchen."

A spate of flying saucer sightings that alarmed residents of Orange County, California, and attracted attention from UFO researchers worldwide have been traced to the garages of a local heart surgeon and engineer.

For the past few months, police have been logging reports of mysterious discs hovering and weaving over Aliso Viejo and nearby towns.

In one sighting, recorded on a UFO research website, a witness reported seeing four craft studded with bright blue lights "dance around one another in the night sky".

Dr. Goddard is recognized as the "Father of American Rocketry" and as one of the pioneers in the theoretical exploration of space. Robert Hutchings Goddard was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on October 15, 1882. He was a theoretical scientist, as well as a practical engineer. His dream was the conquest of the upper atmosphere and ultimately space through the use of rocket propulsion. Dr. Goddard, who died in 1945, was probably as responsible for the dawning of the Space Age as the Wright Brothers were for the beginning of the Air Age. Yet his work attracted little serious attention during his lifetime.

This is an interesting one. As usual the government's explanation is different than those who actually saw it. That comes as no surprise though, right?

Forty years ago today, for a brief but interesting time, Washtenaw County became the flying saucer capital of the Midwest.

It started when a Dexter farmer named Frank Mannor and his 18-year-old son, Ronald, told the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department that a strange flying object appeared and landed in a swampy area at Quigley and Brand roads.

The ISS crew successfully moved their Soyuz craft to another port on the space station. Making room for another Soyuz craft with a replacement crew, coming in several days from now.

It's a shame that they don't launch space craft that have two docking ports, then they could use those crafts as modules. It would get the station built much faster. Send up two for every one that comes back down. Double up the crew on the returning ship.

This is a pretty amazing story. It proves that things are always changing. So we should keep an open mind to all of the new things to come. Because they will. Will you be ready for them?

Normally new rivers, seas and mountains are born in slow motion. The Afar Triangle near the Horn of Africa is another story. A new ocean is forming there with staggering speed -- at least by geological standards. Africa will eventually lose its horn.

Geologist Dereje Ayalew and his colleagues from Addis Ababa University were amazed -- and frightened. They had only just stepped out of their helicopter onto the desert plains of central Ethiopia when the ground began to shake under their feet. The pilot shouted for the scientists to get back to the helicopter. And then it happened: the Earth split open. Crevices began racing toward the researchers like a zipper opening up. After a few seconds, the ground stopped moving, and after they had recovered from their shock, Ayalew and his colleagues realized they had just witnessed history. For the first time ever, human beings were able to witness the first stages in the birth of an ocean.

The news story at http://www.ibnlive.com/article.php?id=6952§ion_id=11 says that when Godfrey Louis put the rain under a microscope he found cells.

"Once we found the particles have similarity with the biological cells then anybody would think it is a biological cell and the electron microscopy also shows very clear indication regarding the fine cell structure of this material," physicist at Mahatma Gandhi University Godfrey Louis said.

Godfrey thinks a fragment broke away from a comet passing the Earth. This fragment disintegrated as it entered the earth's atmosphere and became part of rain-bearing clouds.

And when it rained, it rained comet dust and the dust has the remains of cells similar to bacteria.

That several people heard a loud boom in the skies hours before the red rain, supports Godfrey's theory.

Tete-A-Tete With... Bigfoot: Your water stinks? Sue us

March 19 It was difficult, to say the least, but the New Sunday Times managed to track down the elusive Bigfoot for this revealing interview.

Q: First of all, thank you for granting us this interview.

A: You’re welcome. We thought it was about time.

Q: How much time?

A: Oh, 100,000 years or so. Just after that very bad Ice Age. Most of us froze to death, but some of us survived. We’ve been playing hide-and-seek with you people ever since.

Q: "We"? I take it there’s more than one of you?

A: Oh for heaven’s sake. You don’t suppose I am personally 100,000 years old, do you? I don’t look that bad.

No, there’s about 10,000 of us in all at the moment. We knew we didn’t belong and wouldn’t be wanted after the Pleistocene.

So, as the ice retreated and you little fellers started crawling out to infest the place, we followed the ice and fanned out over Asia and North America, hiding in the forests.

Back in August of 1969, Many menbers of my relatives were giving my grandmother a birthday party at my uncle Syl's house on Williams Street.Every thing went as planned except when night fell, that is when stranges sounds came from the living room where three people were sleeping.

Since I was a small child, I was give the pullout bed. The other two;grandmom and Aunt June were sleeping on the floor. when the noises became louder and louder. When I finally sat up there standing over my grandmother were two ghost(a male and female. When they looked over at me, I quickly put the covers over my eyes and began to shake, saying to myself this cannot be happening.

Finally the lights were turned on by another family member and the night turn to day without any further strange sounds or appearences. seventeen years went by without me saying a word about what had happened in the house, until I asked my grandmother what had happened that night. She replied" oh the two ghost who were trying to take my soul" Since that day, I have never forgotten that night and will always believe well I saw was there.

RAYMOND MARTINOT and his wife were the toast of the world cryonics movement. For years they were France's best preserved corpses, lying in a freezer in a chateau in the Loire Valley, in the hope that modern science could one day bring them back to life.

But the French couple's journey into the future ended prematurely when, 22 years after his mother's body was put into cold store, their son discovered the freezer unit had broken down and they had started to thaw.

The couple's bodies were removed from the faulty freezer and cremated this week. Under French law a corpse must be buried, cremated or formally donated to science. But the couple's son had vowed to go to the European Court of Human Rights to be allowed to keep his frozen parents in his cellar. If he failed, supporters in Colorado had offered to take them.

These haunts were found at: http://www.theshadowlands.net/places/puertorico.htm

Warning: Any places listed in the Haunted Places requires permission to visit or investigate. Many of the places are patrolled by the authorities, trespassers will be prosecuted.

Aguas - Buenas - Small children were on a field trip in 1976 and the school bus crashed, killing everyone. It is said that the children’s spirits still roam the place and you can hear them playing with the bushes and running around.

Cabo Rojo - La llorona's Swing - In this place if you go after 12A.M. you can see the ghostly figure of a girl dressed in rosses petting a pup with fire-red eyes it is said that if you look in to the pups eyes you will be killed by La Llorona

Hatillo - Arecibo - Plaza Del Norte Shopping Center - There is a shopping mall in Puerto Rico called Plaza Del Norte. It's a fairly big shopping mall and it sits on a piece of land that is in two cities, Hatillo and Arecibo. It is said that before the shopping mall was built a woman was murdered and her body was dumped there. Her ghost has been seen hovering over the parking lot lights late at night and she has also been seen in the kitchen of one of the malls restaurants.

It's only a matter of time before the space elevators are built and put into action. So it is more of a matter of when, not if.

An idea occurred to me. These elevators will glide on some type of nanotube or similar cable, up to some type of space structure floating above Earth. These space structures will then in turn hold up the cable. There will almost certainly be many of these structures in space and cables back down to Earth.

So why not also have cables in space from one structure to another. With elevators sliding from one structure to another. Thus creating an entire above Earth transit system.

As a space tourist, can you imagine gliding up this wire, to your space hotel. Then once checked in, you grab another space elevator from your hotel, to the restaurant 300 miles and 5 minutes away.

Then after dinner you hop another elevator to the space observatory. To gaze first at the moon, and then at the planets orbiting a nearby solar system, that you would never be able to see from the surface of Earth.

Plus, you could have space vehicle launching pads connected to these. Think about it for a moment. No need to have traditional rockets to get into space. Once on the platform, some non traditional method could be used for launching. Actually you could have some type of a spring loaded launching mechanism, that would catapult the vehicle from from the launch platform.

Then once free, it could engage it's thrust system, perhaps even solar sails. Using it's own thrust, it could then fly over to our Moon. Yet, it doesn't need to bother landing on the moon, it sits down on a launching platform connected to the moon's surface via another nanotube cable.

Once the craft touches down and is secured, the passengers get out of the craft, and grab a space elevator down to the surface of the moon. Off to go shopping in a lunar mall, and for lunch at the bottom of a crater.

With this line of thinking, the possibilities can go on and on. Perhaps building a mega space station by tethering modules a mile apart from each other, and forming a giant cube shaped array. Then use the cables to collect energy from the sun, and power the entire station. Then beam the extra energy down to Earth as light. Becoming an artificial moon.

I just finished reading this story. Where a company named Inveneo is using alternative energy to power communications hardware for developing countries. Wind, Solar, and Human power, are being used to power the equipment. I consider this to be a positive development. I will make it easier than at least it used to be, for these places to gain knowledge and better their lives, as well as the world as a whole.

Lack of knowledge is how you keep people down and control them. So I say give the world all the knowledge it can handle.
