I’m happy to tell you, that the site is back. It took some work, but here we are.
This domain has been on a total of 4 different hosting accounts this month. All content was lost, over 1800 posts. Then in the process of being rebuilt, with close to 150 posts, which also was lost. Now I’ve been able to get the site back using the November 1st, text export of the blog.
A brief recap of some of the problems in recent months:
- Muslim hackers broke into the site, and left disgusting stuff behind.
- Google quit sending around 90% of the traffic.
- Network and support problems with the host BurstNET.
- New provider Smoky Hosts, even worse, in so many ways.
- Content lost twice: Backups wouldn’t restore, and then I shut the site down because of an awful provider.
- I went through a mental breakdown/meltdown of sorts during all this, and actually gave up on bringing the site back.
This time around, My UFO Blog is running as a community blog. Meaning it’ll have some social network aspects. I wouldn’t expect it to be a paranormal facebook or myspace anytime soon.
Hopefully it will allow for better interaction, of course anonymous comments are still functional. There is a possibility I will enable forums again as well, and they would use the same login as this does. They should also have a similar look and feel, as the blog.
From all indications the new hosting company (Future Hosting) is very reputable. They are quick to respond, they are polite, and they actually fix any issues that I’ve ran into.
It’s going to take some time for the search engines to quit showing broken links, as the site is laid out in a different pattern than before. The search feature built into the blog should help you find what is here. I was able to restore over 1800 blog posts along with their corresponding comments.
