This sounds exactly like the object I saw in Co. Clare the same night. Although we saw the orb like light at about 7p.m. We thought it was a helicopter at first but it had no outline and no noise and so definitely couldn’t have been.  I watched the light for about 10 mins until it literally disappeared before my eyes and it was below the cloud cover and therefore couldn’t have been obscured from view by clouds at all.  I’m sorry I didn’t take a photo.
